Hand designed and built by the original owners, this delightful wooden 'Beach House' is a wonderful retreat. Fixtures & fittings are antique and lovingly restored, giving the house real character and luxury. The entire ground floor is open plan with French doors throughout, featuring a comfortable lounge with large corner sofa (converting to a double bed), opening through to a dining room, leading to the huge terrace with furniture for alfresco dining and brais. The large farmhouse kitchen leads from the dining area and has all modern appliances. The kingsize 4 poster in the master bedroom is pure romance and is complimented by the private balcony. The 2nd bedroom is large & airy with windows on all sides, featuring two oversized single beds and a office area. The luxurious bathroom has both a double shower and freestanding clawfoot bath. Our lovely villa also has a small lawn and natural mountain gardens - plus a large double garage for hire cars / bikes / water sports equipment.
There is a double garage with remote control access doors. PIR security lights & full 24 hr response alarm system - not that we need it, Glencairn is wonderfully safe and tucked away - but its there for your peace of mind. The gardens comprise wonderful natural mountain side foliage, a lawned area and the large terrace. Outdoor furniture and Brai supplied and paddling pool for kiddies. Whales and dolphins can been seen at the right time of year. This house is designed for enjoying outdoor living and the wonderful Cape sun.
This is our 2nd home & we spend at least 1/4 of the year here. We hope that therefore you will find it especially comfortable and welcoming. We can accommodate most additional requests, e.g. daily cleaning, help with car hire, arrange laundry services or even shopping and a cook for you stay, most things are possible as long as we have at least a months notice. Such additional services are payable locally. Cots/highchairs can be supplied if requested. The house is wonderfully breezy, due to its proximity to the beach. But additional fans are supplied for summer. Additional heaters supplied in winter. From January 17th 2009 there will also be wireless internet access for guest use, And an integrated AV/audio system with music and huge movie database. We run our UK businesses from Hopes Return when we stay , so we are able to help with comms and connectivity should you wish to do the same. Also - this year, we are offering a special 3 for 2 deal. Book 2 weeks and stay for a 3rd.
Cape Town airport is a 40 minute drive from 'Hopes Return'. We would recommend car hire in order to see the surrounding areas. Glencairn also has a train station, which takes you right along the sea front to Cape Town.
Journey to us from the airport is simple, N2, M3, across the mountain pass & down the M6 Glencairn expressway to the beach - easy!
About the area
It is about 3 minutes down to the sandy beach at Glencairn. Quiet and serene.
Located on the Eastern seaboard where the sea is much warmer, you are only minutes away by car from Simons Town, the Boulders Beach penguin colony, the sea-side towns of Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay with their fabulous restaurants and Muizenberg famed for its long broad white sands, surfing and fishing. The city of Cape Town is only 40 minutes by car, as are the busy cosmopolitan resorts of Camps Bay and Hout Bay. The beautiful wine-lands of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are within easy reach.
The village of Glencairn has a small parade of shops including a supermarket, petrol station and restaurant. In a car there is an excellent choice of restaurants to drive to in nearby Simonstown, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and NordHoek.
